HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
My husband loves me very much, but the one thing he will admit to anyone is that he is not so in love with my “basic-ness”. What can I say? I love fall! And living in Florida, where it is still 90+ degrees (finally getting cooler!), I can’t help it but to want some fall in my life. As soon as the calendar strikes October 1st, my mind/body instantly wants autumn colored leaves and all things pumpkin!
Since it is already Halloween (time is flyinggg), I have obviously embraced in my fair share of “fall” items. It started when my husband took a short business trip. Since I am not working, and the house was empty, I needed something to cheer myself up… so naturally I took a trip to Target and Hobby Lobby for some décor. 😊
Another thing my husband is not the biggest fan of is clutter…. aka decorations 🙄 (unless it is Christmas of course). Since I was a kid, Halloween has always been a HUGE deal in my family. My house was literally decked out! Complete with a Michael Myers dummy attached to our bathroom skylight – my mom took decorating pretty seriously. I have since digressed and have given in to compromise when it comes to Halloween decorations. Instead of going to storage to get my box of traditional Halloween décor, I decided to grab a few small “Fall” items instead. Needless to say, when my husband returned home, he wasn’t extremely excited to see our apartment (hehe).
Aside from the decorations, I have also indulged in my fair share of fall sweets. I have had pumpkin muffins, pumpkin & cream cheese cookies, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin ravioli, I could go on and onnnn. I also may have gone a little Fall crazy at Trader Joe’s. Side note: as much as my husband makes fun of me, he does not help my problem when he comes home with a box of Halloween donuts from Dunkin 😏
My top 5 “Fall” favorite goodies so far are:
- Whole Foods Pumpkin & Cream Cheese cookies (heated in the microwave 10 secs… THE BEST!)
- Trader Joe’s Caramel Apple Flavored Granola (sprinkle in some yogurt or eat alone, both delicious!)
- Basically any pumpkin or apple flavored donuts (I LOVE DONUTS!)
- Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Waffles (subtle pumpkin flavor, but for some reason I just love them! They are even better when you put some pumpkin pie flavored cream cheese on top. Mmmm)
- Starbucks PSL (Hot, grande, 2 pumps pumpkin 😊)- obviouslyyy!
With all that being said, this is the first year in like forever that I have ZERO Halloween plans. Sad, I know! No new costumes were purchased, no parties attended…. But, I did try to do as many “themed” things as possible. My husband and I went to Disney, ran a Halloween 5k, and my gym had a costume contest- which of course I participated in. This year was different, but I won’t complain… I’ll just make sure to go even bigger next year (Our couples costumes are usually on point!)!!
Next up is Thanksgiving!! Over the years I have sadly come to like this holiday the least. Of course, not because of what it stands for, I love that aspect of the holiday! But for history my family has had on this day- let’s just say its not usually a happy day in my family’s household. Because of this, a few years ago my husband and I decided we would make our own tradition for Thanksgiving… Now, it is one of my favorite days of the year (I’ll talk more on that later 😊)!
Andddd not to stress anyone out buttt:
Hope you all embrace your inner Basic B* selves and enjoy the rest of Fall!!
XO
