I joined a running program…. But whyyy?!?

My fitness journey has always been quite interesting and all over the place. I have had a personal trainer, attempted self-workouts, tried yoga, at home videos, and joined numerous boot-camps (before finding my current one that I love šŸ˜Š). I have finally somewhat figured out a routine that works for me. But throughout all of that, one thing has always stayed consistentā€¦. Cardio is NOT my favorite and running is horrible! Since I am always interested in trying new things when it comes to fitness, I set a pretty interesting goal for myself at the beginning of the year.

Run a 5k a month.

Why? Well, like I statedā€¦ I hate running, and what better way to overcome that hatred? I started the year strong; actually had one of my fastest times so far in January. My husband even decided to join this venture with me (he has only missed one month). But then in May, during a run, I twisted my ankle. Being the stubborn woman I am, ran the entire race on the hurt ankle, then waited over a month to see a doctor. I also ran a race in June, before seeing the doctor, so yeaā€¦ Iā€™m sure that helped.

This threw a small wrench in my running plan. I had to miss our annual 4th of July run, which we have actually been doing the past four years. My husband ran it for me, but it was still very sad. However, I was determined not to let this ruin my goal! I found a virtual race and did a July run on my own, and actually did pretty good.

Since then, my ankle is doing much better, and I have managed to make it to October and I am still going strong! Sooo what better idea then to join a running program? šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Now that I am almost done with my 5k a month, I really want to get faster! I knew this wouldnā€™t happen on my own, and then I got an email from our local running store. It was a sign. Literally the title of the email was ā€œGot the need for speed?ā€. How could I not sign up?? So, I did.

I have completed week 1 of the 10-week program, and I did not die! Honestly, I’m not sure what I was thinking. SO. MUCH. RUNNING! I will tell you one thing, I will either love running at the end of this or hate it even more. I will keep you all posted!

Wish me luck!!
